Why use the abbreviation as an integral part of the logomark? Why was it important to tie the logomark to the context of the company?

The company/org is a relatively unknown entity. Hence the decision was made to use the short form (IDI) as part of the logomark because this means its one less thing for the audience to learn and recall. It was important to tie the symbol/logo mark to the context of the company/org/entity.
